Brilliantly Birmingham this year's profile designer: Li-Chu Wu

I'm so glad that Brilliantly Birmingham chose me as their profile designer this year, here is the copy of the introducing article:
enjoy it~

We’re really excited to finally release our new look for Brilliantly Birmingham 2010. This year’s festival promises to be a fantastic one; with exhibitions, workshops, seminars and events across the city centre, Jewellery Quarter and newly re-opened mac.
This year’s profile designer is Birmingham City University graduate Li-Chu Wu and her stunning paper jewellery. She was chosen from seven candidates to front this year’s campaign, on the back of her impressive mix of metalsmithing and new technologies.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Li-Chu trained in Jewellery Design and Making at Fu Jen Catholic University, then completed a Masters in Jewellery, Silversmithing and Related Products at Birmingham City University. Her work appears as part of ‘Making Treasure’, the BCU Graduate show at the School of Jewellery.
Li-Chu’s work is all about paper; using multiple layers to create subtle movement and tactile qualities. She manipulates layered paper allowing it to expand in a concentric format, creating gorgeous, elaborate and unique works of art like these:
Li-Chu’s collection consists of individual one-off pieces of art that re-create the link between the material and its original source in the natural environment.
